Social Justice Initiative

He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8)

A new initiative has started at Bethlehem. Strengthened by our love for all God's creation and recognizing the urgency to act, a social justice initiative committee has been established to work for our goal to advance positive change in our church, our community, and our world. We invite all who are interested to participate with this committee—through education as well as action in the myriad issues facing us as Christians in our world today.

Share the Grace Reformation Celebration

reform 14486._StGpngThe SJI is hosting a special event going at BLC on October 31! In addition to celebrating Reformation Sunday and Confirmation, we are also giving you the opportunity to Share Your Grace by contributing items, gift cards, or monetary donations that will benefit the incarcerated as they are released from the Denver Women's Prison or the Aurora ICE Detention Center. Please see the list of items needed below and in the weekly announcements. Monetary donations will be used to buy needed items, bus passes, or gift cards for the backpacks we are putting together. Please designate your donation: Share the Grace.

Items needed:
  • Backpacks (new or gently used, small to medium size)
  • Bus passes (Buy these at the Service Center at King Soopers or Safeway; please look for the book of passes that cost $28 and include 10 tickets.)
  • Water bottles (reusable)
  • Toiletry items (small size: soap, deodorant, shampoo, women's hygiene items, small laundry soap packs)
  • Snack items (Individually wrapped snack sized: chips, granola/power bars, cookies, crackers, jerky, fruit cups, trail mix)
