Pastor Mark Peterson, Senior Pastor
Pastor Mark Peterson has had the privilege of serving his whole ministry in the front range of Colorado. He served first at Holy Trinity in Littleton for five years, and then at Black Forest Lutheran in Black Forest for next seven years, while also developing a new mission church in the Monument area. Before coming to Bethlehem, he served for 16 years at Mt. Calvary Lutheran in Boulder. Pastor Peterson celebrated his 25th anniversary of ordination in 2003 and has now been at Bethlehem for two years.
Pastor Peterson is a native westerner, having been born in Casper, Wyoming. He also lived in Pittsburg, Galveston, New Orleans (Tulane grad), Manchester, England and Chicago (seminary). Ruth, his wife of over 30 years, works in Loveland for a defense contractor. They have four children; Aaron (engineer in San Francisco, married to Anne), Nate (sports editor for the Aspen Times), Jesse (working for a law firm in Boston) and Micah (junior at California Lutheran in Thousand Oaks).
Pastor Peterson is a “shredder” (avid snowboarder). He enjoys hiking, doing stained glass and learning to play the hammer dulcimer. As he shares ministry with Pastor Bolz-Weber, he focuses on the ministry areas of worship, evangelism, adult education and support (stewardship, finance, personnel, property).
His ministry centers on Bethlehem’s mission statement to “live the Good News of Christ’s love”.
