Emergency Info Form Safe Haven PolicyBethlehem adopted the SAFE HAVEN: Policy for the Protection of Children and Youth from Abuse in February 2011. Click the following link to download a copy: Safe Haven Policy. Feb. 10, 7:00–8:30 PM—Senior High FRESH. Join us for an informative conversation about cults in our world. What defines a cult? How many cults are there? How do we articulate our Lutheran Christian faith in the face of cults? And what is the story with the whole “Kool-Aid Incident” anyway? You won’t want to miss this one—bring your questions!
Feb. 17, 7:00–8:30 PM—Senior High FRESH. Since we missed our conversation in January about the awesome Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, St. Patrick, and other cultural holiday icons, we will discuss all of them on THIS Sunday! So it’s not too late to bring all your ideas and questions. We might even make Christmas cookies while we chat…
Feb. 24, 12:30–4:30 PM—Middle and High School SCUBA Adventure. Yes! For real! We are going SCUBA diving! There is so much to be learned by hanging out underwater together (never mind finding out if you enjoy it and then want to pursue certification so that you can see God’s amazing underwater creation all over the globe). We will be working with Ocean First Divers in Boulder for an afternoon of education, training, and some underwater pool time from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. We will meet at BLC at 12:30 PM to make sure all waivers are signed and everyone is good to go and then we will vanpool it down to the dive center. Waivers can be found at tinyurl.com/d3cq4xp or contact Deaconess Kristen for more information. Due to the content of the course and the pool size, space is limited to the first 10 people who sign up! Cost is $30—scholarships available so talk to DK if needed.
Senior High Summer Trip. We have determined the dates and location of our 2013 Senior High Summer Trip. We are partnering with Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Broomfield, CO for a FABULOUS week of exploring wealth, poverty, and the church’s response in Las Vegas, NV. Trip dates are July 7–13, so yes, it WILL be hot. We will be working with Lutheran Social Services of Nevada and helping them out in any way that we can. We plan to schedule a variety of service projects so that our high school youth can connect to service in different ways and see how their gifts might fit into projects that exist in our own community. The other purpose of the trip is to highlight the disparity between the glitz of Vegas and the needs of the people in the community. More details such as cost, itinerary, etc. will all be coming out as soon as we have them (we estimate the cost to be in the $500 range). Alli Curtis will be working with me to plan this trip, along with Cody Kuehl from Cross of Christ and one of the CoC youth, Rachel. We are all very excited about this and hope you senior highers can join us. If you would like to sign up to participate, let me know soon. When an official “cut off date” is established I will let you know, but for now, SAVE THE DATE!
Sky Ranch
The Sky Ranch Giving Tree is coming. The Sky Ranch Valentine tree will be on display in the narthex for the month of February. This tree is filled with gift ideas that will help them build firm foundations of faith in youth and adults. We ask that you take a gift tag from the tree and purchase a gift card from the store listed on the tag. Then mail the gift card to Sky Ranch using one of the return envelopes placed next to the tree. This will allow Sky Ranch to facilitate more encounters with Christ on the mountaintop and celebrate 50 years of ministry!
