Meet Our Pastor

Pastor Mark Peterson, Senior Pastor

Pastor Peterson has been the pastor at Bethlehem for seven years. He feels very blessed to be serving this congregation. Pastor Mark has had the privilege of serving his whole ministry on the front range of Colorado in the Rocky Mountain Synod of the ELCA. He served first at Holy Trinity in Littleton for five years, then at Black Forest Lutheran for seven years while developing a mission church in the Monument area. Before coming to Bethlehem, he served for 16 years at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Boulder.

Pastor Peterson is a native westerner, having been born in Casper, Wyoming. He has also lived in Pittsburgh, New Orleans (Tulane University grad), Manchester, England and Chicago (Lutheran School of Theology). Ruth, his wife of 37 years, works for Waste Management in Commerce City. They have four children; Aaron (an architectural engineer in the Bay area married to Anne), Nate (an editor for CBS Sports in Ft. Lauderdale married to Emily), Jesse (an HR director for a law firm in Boston married to Jon) and Micah (working as a marketing director for a Brookdale retirement community in Cherry Creek). Ruth and Pastor Mark are blessed with three delightful grandchildren; Hayden, Jacob and Grace.

Pastor Peterson is an avid “shredder” (snowboarder) and hiker. He also enjoys working out in his yard and doing landscaping. He loves going to see the CU Buffs football and basketball teams play. He is also a diehard Rockies fan.

His ministry focus at Bethlehem is worship, evangelism, social action, adult education, confirmation and support ministries. His ministry focuses on how we are “Blessed to be a Blessing”.
