Meet Our Pastor

Pastor Mark Peterson, Senior Pastor

Pastor Peterson is starting his 4th year of ministry at Bethlehem Lutheran. He recently celebrated his 30th anniversary of ordination. He has had the privilege of serving his whole ministry on the front range of Colorado. He served first at Holy Trinity in Littleton for five years, and then at Black Forest Lutheran for seven years while also developing a mission church in the Monument area. Before coming to Bethlehem, he served for 16 years at Mt. Calvary Lutheran in Boulder.

Pastor Peterson is a native westerner, having been born in Casper, Wyoming. He also has lived in Pittsburgh, Galveston, New Orleans (Tulane grad), Manchester, England, and Chicago (seminary). Ruth, his wife of over 30 years, works for a defense contractor in Loveland. They have four children; Aaron (engineer in San Francisco, married to Anne), Nate (sports editor for the Aspen Times), Jesse (working for a law firm in Boston) and Micah (senior at California Lutheran in thousand Oaks).

Pastor Peterson is an avid “shredder” (snowboarder). He also enjoys hiking and doing stained glass. He shares ministry with Dawn Reed (Christian Education) and Kristen Baltrum (Youth and Household Ministry). His ministry focus is; worship, evangelism, social action and support ministries. His ministry centers on Bethlehem’s mission statement to “live the Good News of Jesus Christ”.
