Upcoming Worship/Sharing Opportunities
Back-to-School Blessing
It’s that time of year again! Come to either of
the worship services on Sunday, August 15,
for a special “Back to School Blessing” for all
students, teachers, education administrators,
school counselors and nurses, cleaning staff,
kitchen staff—or ANYONE who will be headed
“Back to School” in just a few days!

Outside Worship Serivces
This summer we will again hold an outdoor service on the first Sunday of the month starting June 6. Our next, and last, outside service will be on August 1. The 8:00 AM service will be inside in the sanctuary and the 10:15 AM will be outside in the stable. We will be using the Chicago Folk Service for our liturgy at the outdoor service, a folk music-based liturgy Bethlehem has used over the years.

Summer Educational Opportunities
Remember, we have learning opportunities each Sunday through the end of August for households and adults along with our regular summer coffee time. On the first and third Sundays, as part of Household Ministry, there will be a short devotional activity provided that may be done during the coffee hour or taken home to do at your own convenience. On the second and fourth Sundays there will be an adult Bible study, Being the Body of Christ: Studies in First Corinthians, and there will be outdoor games and activities for children aged pre-school through eighth grade led by our high school youth.

Summer Adult Forums
We started another “Book of Faith” Bible
study this summer. We have been looking
at First Corinthians with “Being the Body of
Christ.” We didn’t meet in July, because of
other Sunday events (New Orleans Mission
trip update, Dr. Lose, the church picnic). We
plan to finish the course in August.
August 8: “How does the gift of love shape
the body of Christ?” I Cor. 13: 1-13
August 22: “Are we giving what we are
given?” I Cor. 15:1-11 |

New Members Class
We are blessed by all the visitors we have at
Bethlehem. We will be holding an “Inquirer’s
class” for those visitors on August 22
and 29. The classes will look at how we
see ourselves as Lutheran Christians and
what our mission and ministry is here at
Bethlehem. It is a chance to find out more
about the church and to meet some of our
members and leaders. Join us for lunch and
discussion following the second service on
those Sundays. If you wish to join Bethlehem,
we will be receiving new members on Sunday,
September 13. |
